Louisiana Swamp Stories

This creative writing assignment can done
as the closure activity after studying Louisiana coastal marshes and swamps.
The students should write a narrative describing an imaginary (but realistic)
trip through the coastal marshes or swamps of Louisiana. Their story should
include the route taken, what they might encounter on the trip, food, supplies,
sleeping accomodations, etc. I require that this be written in ink or typed.
After I have graded this assingment, the students break into small grounps
of 5 or 6 and read their stories aloud.
The Group chooses the best story which
is then posted on the bulletin board
(titled "Tales from the Swamp" and draped
with Spanish moss).
