In 1800 the United States ended at Tennessee and Kentucky. Students are asked to fill in the rest of the country with physical land features based only on what they know - no using books or maps. They then compare what they know to what is really out there. It leads to a great discussion about what Lewis and Clark thought the knew and what the really found.
